Talking Ernie Doll Scare

Thank you for reading my story. In April of this year, it was a cold night night and my father and his wife were out and I don't like being alone, so I decided to call one of my friends to keep my mind off of being alone.

Since it is warmer down in their area of the house, I walked into their living room. When you go down into that area of our house, you have to walk through an office room and there are two doorways that go from that room into two other rooms. One doorway leads into the living room and the other leads into the other kids' bedroom (the kids were with my dad and his wife).

While I was sitting in the living room talking on the phone, I heard someone say "I feel great!"! My body froze for what felt like 10 or 15 minutes but was probably only 10 seconds. I snapped out of my trance when I heard it again and while I was trying to remain as calm as I could, inside I was freaking out.

My friend asked if I was ok and I asked her to please stay on the phone with me while I checked the house. As I stood up, I heard a loud snoring sound! I took 5 steps and then I heard "I feel great!" again. This time, my friend on the other line heard it too and asked what that noise was, but I didn't say anything yet.

I was trying to be quiet in case somebody was in my house. I walked into the office room, and didn't see anything that could possibly be making that sound. The second I turned by back so that I could look into the playroom, I heard "I feel great!" right behind me! I turned and saw my brothers' sleep and snore Ernie doll propped up in a corner facing me. It started snoring while I was staring at it. I ran out of that room and into the main living room, slamming the door shut. About 5 minutes later, I heard Ernie say he felt great about three more times, even through the shut door.

The next morning, I told my father about it and he said maybe the battery was dying or it's motion activated but his wife tried everything she could think of and the doll was silent. Then, she pressed her fingers into its' stomach and he announced that he felt great. I have heard that there was a child that died in our house before we lived there, and we have had previous experiences with its' spirit and other spirits before.

Please comment and tell me what you think!

  3. When my daughter was a baby around 1998 ,I bought a Ernie doll that snored and said the words "I'm sleepy " .It was at a garage sale and the man who sold it to me for 3 dollars told me it belonged to a child who died. I felt sad but bought it anyway because I was unemployed and had 2 older children already . Well in the middle of the night around 3 am it would start snoring and say I,m sleepy .This happened every night for quite some time and it would wake me up so I put Ernie in the closet thinking it would stop ,well it still went off for no apparent reason and to make it snore you had to press down pretty hard . Finally I said a prayer and blessed it and thrwe it in the garbage . It just freaked me out .

  6. We still have Sleepy Time Ernie and my kids are now adults! Ernie is still at my house because they are "scared" of him and won't take them to either of their homes. Every year or so, I hear Ernie say "I feel Great, I feel Great!" We bought him in 1997 or 1998 when he first came out and that's been over 20 years ago! We have never changed his batteries. When we first got him, my daughter had him on her bed because she thought he was cute. But he would talk on his own so Ernie ended up in my son's room. Then it was the closet for a couple of years. And every so often we would hear "I feel Great, I feel Great!" even though nobody was upstairs! Needless to say, that's when he was taken to the basement as my kids thought that Ernie was going to steal their soul! (I think it's a little dramatic, but ...)
He still talks every so often, and just today I heard "I feel Great. I feel Great!" That's when I started searching the web for similar stories if Ernie may be haunted!!!

  8. My brother had one of these dolls. Nothing ever really happened while he had it. But he gave it to my son after he was born in 2001. After that it keep randomly going off so we took the batteries out and put it in the closet. It freaked me and my husband out because it would still go off every now and then. Eventually while moving I came acrossed it and it talked again while I was holding it. It went in the trash.

  9. Coming to this thread to add this happened to me a lot when I was a kid!! Ernie was kept in my toy box and was never ever played with and he went off numerous times in the night over a period of a few years. The “I feel great!” And the snoring randomly in the night would literally reduce me to tears 😭 In the end I ended up throwing it out 😂
